Seeds sown 2023
Edible Flowers from Sainsburys
Houndstongue, sown 7-6-2023
Liquorice, sown 6-8-2023
Plant World Seeds, sown 8-5-2023
Safflower, sown 6-8-2023
Blessed Thistle seeds sown 6-8-2023
I added the blessed thistle seeds to this seed tray as a number of the cells are free.
I'm not sure exactly when I sowed the seeds but by 9-6-2023, the seedlings were ready to be repotted
only the bright sunshine made these look lighter, they're the same as the ones above
24-6-2023
couple weeks later, lots of flowers 7-7-2023
Edible Flowers by Sainsbury's seeds sown 9-7-2023
I do buy more seeds than I can plant, including this year Edible Flowers from Sainsbury's.
I only managed to sow the seeds on July 9th - much too late but I figure I might get some late summer / early autumn flowers, maybe even some next year if they are hardy.
a number of seedlings, I added the foxglove from another pot (nothing to do with these edible flowers)
Houndstongue seeds sown beginning of June 2023
a few weeks later
I think the two seedlings on the top row in the middle might be the houndstongue I planted
the other possible houndstongue seedling
I potted those two houndstongue seedlings in small pots, 12-7-2023
two weeks later 28-7-2023, sadly the slugs have gotten to them, I'll have to keep an eye on them
23-9-2023 the larger of the two houndstongue is looking good
a few days later, the slugs have gotten to it
Glycyrrhiza glabra (Liquorice) seeds sown 6-8-2023
I'm not sure if this is one of the liquorice seedlings but it does look a bit different from the common vetch I have in the garden which is a similar plant.
A few days later and new growth, polemonium has been suggested, no idea how that would have gotten into my seed pots, haven't had one in my garden for years and even then, it was only briefly. Another wait and see.

I haven't been able to do too many seeds this year but I did plant a few. I planted this tray with seeds from Plant World Seeds (Eryngium Leavenworthii, Aethionema saxatile, Umbilicus rupestris). I would not recommend them as I had zero germination. I think they are a scam. I thought I'd try them and only wasted money on 3 packets of seeds. And now I know.
a month later, all the usual self-seeded "weeds" I get in all my pots, green alkanet, annual mercury, shoofly, etc but NONE of the seeds I sowed
and a month after that, June 2023
Sept 2023 I checked the seed tray as I'd added other seeds to it. I was surprised to see what looks like navelwort seedlings.
closer view of the cells with the navelwort (top left, bottom right and bottom row 1 cell from the left)
Safflower seeds sown 6-8-2023
planting advice I found was to have the seeds on top of the compost
after a couple days, I see the seeds sprouting
safflower seedlings 28-9-2023
I'm not sure what these are but there are at least 8 the same and in the pots so feel sure they must be the same thing. Similar to willowherb but don't think it's that and would be quite coincidental to have the same self-seeder in these two pots. Will have to wait and see.
